About Us

Computastyle Signs began in a large garage at the back of a residence in the Waikato township of Matamata in the late 1970’s. Originally coming under the name of Matamata Signs & Designs, the husband and wife team of Stephen and Jenny Woolley established the company using the now almost redundant skill of hand signwriting. At around the same time that the business moved into the commercial sector of Matamata, the first primitive signmaking computers came onto the market in New Zealand. As no sign shops in the city of Tauranga had embraced the new computer technology at that stage, Stephen and Jenny purchased a small existing Tauranga sign shop and, they, along with all their staff and their computer, made the move over the Kaimais to this new frontier.

In 2018, after 39 successful years, Stephen and Jenny decided that the time had come to take life easier and so they handed the business over to another husband and wife team: Philipp and Maria Wilkens.

With more than 10 years of experience in Customer Service and Business Administration, Philipp knows first-hand what your business needs in order to grow and be more recognizable in today’s competitive market. And Maria, as the new Head of Design with over 8 Years of experience in Design and Web, will help you focus your brand on who you are and what you stand for.

Combining the history and experience of this award-winning business with their fresh new ideas, a new entity was born: Computastyle deSigns, putting a larger focus on design and web-design while keeping signwriting as our core competence.

Making your brand shine brighter is our mission and we are looking forward to our journey together!
